Fernado de Noronha Heaven on Earth
|
“Paradise is here”. That's how seaman Amerigo Vespucci defined his newest find, on August 10, 1503. He was right. With its golden sand and crystalline sea, Fernando de Noronha is the closest representation of what we define as divine. Maybe its magical scenery is what led so many countries, commanders and governors to vie over this archipelago. Portugal, France, England and the Netherlands are all amongst the nations that, at some point in history, flew their flags here.
The archipelago of Fernando de Noronha comprises 21islands and islets, scattered over a 26 sq. km. area. Administratively, it has been a district of the state of Pernambuco since 1988, when it was demoted from its status as a federal territory. The surface of its main island covers 17 sq. m. and is 545 km from Recife, the capital of the State of Pernambuco. In 1988, the better part of the archipelago was declared a National Park, spanning approximately 8 sq. km., to protect the species that exist locally and the concentration of spinner dolphins that gather every day at the Golfinhos (Dolphin) Bay – the spot of most regular sighting of the species in the whole world. In 2001, UNESCO declared the archipelago a “World Heritage Natural Site”
The archipelago was even visited by scientist Charles Darwin, father of the Theory of Evolution, in 1832, who was impressed by the local biodiversity. But you do not have to be a biologist to appreciate the great diversity of natural attractions found around the archipelago. We have put this active trip together so that you may enjoy, in an exclusive and customized fashion, all of the different attractions Fernando de Noronha may offer. After all, you do not go to heaven every day.
Also worth noting is the full support from our staff and the constant presence of a tour coordinator who, from beginning to end, will ensure the trip progresses smoothly and efficiently. A support vehicle will be as close as possible, although almost always unseen. You should keep in mind that we may also gear our activities and balance them as to best serve your party's specific requirements, not only in regard to their intensity, but also to their cultural, gastronomic, athletic or ecological content.
